4,5 rather, as Uthred was a bit too lucky with his fortune. Being saved the last minute, second, each time. Other characters doing exactly as he wants. It is true that he is the storyteller, his old self, but at the same time, the author lives through his main character. He enjoys this parallel imagined life a bit too obvious and greedily.
