#1 The immune system is designed to protect us from disease and infection. When it doesn’t function correctly, it mistakenly attacks healthy tissue, leading to autoimmune diseases. In 2009, a study found that high doses of vitamin D dramatically reduced the relapse rate in people with multiple sclerosis.

#2 Until recently, no study had proven that low levels of vitamin D could be a direct cause of autoimmune diseases. However, a study published in 2015 demonstrated a genetic correlation between lack of vitamin D and susceptibility to multiple sclerosis.
