Locatora Radio is a weekly podcast dedicated to archiving the present and shifting the culture forward. Hosted by Mala Muñoz and Diosa Femme, two IG friends turned podcast partners. They break down pop culture, current events, and feminism through nuanced interviews with Latinx creatives and artists. Founded in 2016, Locatora Radio was podcasting independently until joining iHeartRadio's My Cultura Podcast Network in 2022.

We're Finalists! Vote For Us!

In this episode, Diosa and Mala reflect on what it means to be critiqued in real time. They've been sitting with a recent critique in a new publication, Radiophonic Feminisms: Latina Voices in the Digital Age of Broadcasting by Ester Díaz Martín. Díaz Martin began her research in 2018, when they were still independent podcasters. Years later, her book was published, and it credits las Locatoras as the creators of “radiophonic." 
 
There's a clear shift from an affirmative analysis of the early podcast days to a more complicated critique of growth inside a corporate structure. She points out how their femme sound, feminist ideas, and dynamic shaped early episodes, and how later production process “complicates the feminist praxis.” 
 
In this episode, they hold space for expansiveness and evolution to art. How do all of us navigate growth without losing our core values? And how do we balance the nuance of creating within capitalism?

In this episode, Diosa and Mala speak with LA City Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez about the ICE raids in Los Angeles and the direct attack on immigrant communities. Together, they discuss how to protect our communities, the power and limits cities hold, and why predominately Black and Brown communities are targeted. Councilmember Hernandez plans to run for re-election and shares what it means to be a voice for her district during a tense summer in Los Angeles.

In this episode, Diosa sits down with two women organizing mutual aid efforts in the wake of the Eaton Canyon fires that devastated Altadena, California. Diosa interviews Carola Secada, Director of People Opps at Revolve Impact. In addition to organizing, Carola and her family lost their home in the Eaton Fire. She shares her journey as someone impacted by the fires and as a community leader. Diosa also speaks with Shilpa Shah, a member of Colibrí Collective and the coordinator of DENA Heals' marketplace, which offers essential items at no cost to individuals and families affected by the Eaton Fire. Both Carola and Shilpa emphasize the importance of community collaboration, wellness spaces for fire victims, and providing service with dignity. 
 
DENA HEALS is a groundbreaking recovery initiative coordinated by Revolve Impact to address the immediate and long-term needs of individuals and families affected by the Eaton fire.
