#1 The hedonistic search and the spiritual search, with their respective rejections of the body, often bring us little joy. The divorce of our sensory and spiritual natures generates serious problems for adherents of both paths.

#2 The sexual revolution of the 1960s left profound marks on our society. It permitted us to open ourselves to the body, leaving secrecy behind. But today we suffer from extreme solitude, we suffer from no longer touching each other, and we suffer from the virtualization of our feelings and emotions.

#3 The third path is called Kashmiri Shaivism, and it was developed in the Indus Valley between the sixth and thirteenth centuries A. D. It is a path that focuses on the whole person, and it stands in opposition to both the hedonistic sexual quest and the ascetic spiritual quest.

#4 The Tantric movement completely dissociated itself from the puritan orthodox traditions of Buddhism and Hinduism. It produced great masters who profoundly influenced both the Great Vehicle Buddhist schools and Hinduism.
