Born in Napanee, Ontario, Canada, he moved to the United States and became a naturalized citizen in 1908. Often called the “King of the Pulps,” Bedford-Jones wrote across nearly every genre imaginable: science fiction, fantasy, adventure, detective fiction, historical epics, and Westerns. At the height of his career, he was producing an extraordinary volume of work, sometimes publishing as many as a dozen stories in a single month. He wrote under dozens of pseudonyms, crafting over 1,000 stories, novels, and serials for legendary pulp magazines such as Argosy, All-Story Weekly, and Blue Book.
