Salman Khan can do whatever he wants to do, and we need to suspend our disbelief and simply go with it - This is the clear message that Bharat director Ali Abbas Zafar sends, and that too beautifully, through the 167 minute duration of the movie.
Salman Khan plays, surprise surprise, Bharat in the creatively titled Bharat, a man born before partition. Bharat witnesses a lot of emotional upheaval, drama and conflict in his own life, a clear symbolic reference to the fortunes of India.
India’s pain is Salman’s pain. India’s suffering is Salman’s suffering. But the movie, far from being campy, works. Perhaps, this is why it’s become Salman’s biggest Eid opener, as well as his own highest grossing opener, raking in Rs 42.3 crore on day 1 of its release!
