ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK

"Truly Devious" by Maureen Johnson is a young adult mystery novel set at Ellingham Academy, a school founded by millionaire Albert Ellingham in the mountains of Vermont. The story follows Stevie Bell, a student with a passion for true crime, as she enrolls at Ellingham, driven by the school's dark history. In 1936, Albert Ellingham's wife and daughter were kidnapped, and a threatening riddle signed "Truly Devious" was received, but the crime was never solved. Years later, while Stevie and her classmates are working on a Truly Devious video series about the case, tragedy repeats itself when one of them dies. Stevie then begins her own investigation, suspecting foul play and uncovering hidden connections to the past. The novel blends elements of mystery, suspense, and historical fiction.
