Welcome to Traitor’s Den. I hope you like it here, because there’s no leaving the small western town that’s more theme park than authentic. Once you walk through the portal, you’re stuck as a boot heel in a half foot of mud.

I’ve never seen the outside world and I don’t care. The cannon-toting, trigger-happy residents here are like family, even if most of them are a few spoons short of a full set. Eventually, everyone grows on you, kinda like nail fungus. But the booze flows freely, and Tiger keeps me company. He’s as much a prisoner as I am.

I don’t figure there’s much point in wanting what you can never have. I’ll eventually accept one of my boyfriend’s marriage proposals and then keep policing the one-way town while I pop out the babies he wants. I was born knowing how to make chicken salad out of chicken shit.

At least I won’t be bored. Denners aren’t fans of following the rules, and the longer they’re in town, the worse they behave, thanks to the spell that keeps us all trapped here.

Just when I think I’ve made my peace with my lot, the portal pops open and two men shoot through, throwing punches before their feet even finish landing in my town. When they finally look at me, all I see is problems. Big, ginormous, entirely-too-handsome problems. And that’s before I even take into account the little “surprise” they brought through with them.

No one’s ever looked at me the way they do.

They aren’t the kind of men who back down after claiming something.

Or someone...

Did I say I had my life in Traitor’s Den all figured out? Hell, I couldn’t have been more wrong.

When the Moon Shines

The people and creatures of Traitor’s Den are always getting into trouble. Hell, they’re supposed to. It’s the one thing I can count on to be predictable. The longer they spend in the Den, the more the spell that keeps us all here has the chance to take effect, turning us all into my Uncle Tucker’s version of cowboys and cowgirls—and he clearly had little idea about a true western community when he first condemned my parents to a life stuck in one.

Our little one-way town is always wild, definitely outrageous, and no day is ever the same as the one before it.

But when Rhett Stead and Zeke Doyle tumble through the portal, throwing punches before they even land, our town’s signature wild western flavor swells a couple of notches, especially since they seem to think I’m their mate or queen or ... whatever.

Their steamy looks are enough problem to handle, and then I discover what Rhett’s been carrying around in his, um, err, goods. The secret contraband definitely does not belong in our prison world since we have no chance of escaping it.

Worst of all, something big, ferocious, and fire-breathing wants what Rhett snuck in. Several somethings, in fact. And the portal just popped open again...

When the Sun Burns

I need more magic like I need a point-blank bullet to the head.

All that dragon power Rhett’s already given me is churning around inside me, causing as much trouble as the great poohbah dragon protector himself, and he’s trouble walking in a pair of perfectly fitting jeans.

Regardless of my desires, and I’ve got lots of them thanks to the two men who won’t stop shooting suggestive looks my way, more magic is exactly what I’ve got—plus a whole band of dragon shifters without it, heh, pointing fingers at me for taking what they think is theirs. Oopsie.

Still, no matter the hissy fits they throw, finders keepers, losers weepers applies extra when it comes to power. Especially since I’ve got no idea how to give any of it back—or how to properly use it either, for that matter. And that’s before Zeke wants to share some of his magic with me...

Oy. These men are intent on driving me batty.

Life in Traitor’s Den, usually crazy enough to keep me on my toes, has never seemed quite so over-the-top outrageous. Denners and our unexpected guests are keeping me busier than a cat on a hot tin roof. When you add in all the resurrections, well, bring on the extra nuttiness.

But when saving my best friend Birdie’s life involves her kissing Zeke, my quasi-vampire, my man, I wholly embrace the unofficial motto of Traitor’s Den: “Behaving is for losers.”

Honey, I ain’t no loser.

Armed with my girls Big Bertha and Big Wilma, the best six shooters a woman could ask for, I’m off to protect what’s mine.

Now, if only that list weren’t growing...

When the Lightning Strikes

Huzzah! I made it to my twenty-third birthday! Given how much dragon magic I have rolling through me now, doing its best to cook me from the inside out, this feat is no small thing. I’ve earned a hearty celebration and then some. I’m gonna party down at Sharmayne’s and let her ply me with as many of her cocktails as she wants. Her magic touch is exactly what I need after how nutty life in Traitor’s Den has been lately. I deserve every hypnotic, milky, swirling Moon Mixer she sends my way. Hell, I might get fancy and skip right on to a Roll in the Hay, maybe even a Sirens on the Rocks, and if I’m tipsy enough, end the night with a Dragon Slayer like a proper wild child. Who needs to be clear headed anyway? For one night, I can be one clown short of a circus. All the responsibility of being both sheriff and mayor of our fine, one-way town will still be waiting for me tomorrow.

It always is.

A night at Sharmayne’s oughta leave me loose and ready to finally take advantage of all the dragon shifter Rhett and the vampire Zeke keep trying to offer me—every damn day, all day long...and into the night. Their looks are heated enough that if all the power inside me weren’t already threatening to give me a good cookin’, their constant seduction would. Those men could sell heat to a roasting fire.

But trust me, what they’re sellin’, I’m lookin’ to buy. They say I’m their mate? Their queen? Well, bring it on. I’m wearing my favorite dancin’ boots.

Of course, just when I’m starting to get hot and heavy with my two guys, a knock on the door upends my world—yet again.

Well, at least, I ain’t complainin’ none. Not one tiny, little bit. Not with who’s on the other side of my door.

Not till the sky starts falling, anyhow...

When the Sky Falls

Traitor’s Den was meant to be a prison. A punishment. A hellhole my daddy could never escape.

Over the decades, however, hundreds of us have found a way to make it our home. We’ve learned to deal with the many bumps along the way with colorful cussing and a dash of humor—often roused by one too many at the saloon—and we’ve embraced the spell that turns us all into honky-tonk cowgirls and -boys.

The Den might be more bizarre magical theme park than anything else, but hey, it’s ours. What’s ours, we Denners protect. To the death. We might have better things to do than showing up to work on time, but tell us there’s a shootout? Darn tootin’, we’ll be there. With bells on. Whatever cray-cray happens in our town, we’ll find a way to fix it—or at least, shoot it till it’s as fixed as it gets.

But what in Sam Hill are we supposed to do with a hole in the sky, where a hole sure as shitfire doesn’t belong, that’s letting dragons into our no-exit portal town? I’m not talking cute baby dragons like Sawyer Zane. Full grown, mean as sin, adult dragons. Who are on this one-way trip to kill lucky ol’ me. Just dandy.

Since there’s nowhere to run, we do what we do best: we fight.

One way or another, there can only be one sheriff in town. When the dust settles, I’m betting it will be me. I’m hoping, anyhow, because I’m all in. And so is everyone I love, including the gorgeous half vampire and two hunky shifters who’ve gone ahead and claimed me. As they say, where there’s smoke there’s fire, and honey, in Traitor’s Den, something’s always smokin’ hot.
