I gave it 1 star cause, even if the zombie atmosphere is enjoyable, this novel is full of white Conservative machist stereotypes. The main white male characthers are blend in one giant one dimensional such stereotype, to the point you can't really distinguish one from the other. Visions about guns, the military, democracy, women and black people make you cringe. The characterization of the two female characters are non esistent and useless, the main black characther's one is simply appalling. I had to stop listening for a while after his first appereance in chapter 17 cause I couldn't stand it no more.The character named Billy is the most interesting, even if he too suffer from poor chacaterization. The writing is plain and the dialogues quite predictable.This less than a verage novel it's good if you need a good exercise for practice English listening cause it's not very difficult to follow, (if you can stand the points mentioned above).
