Fractured

It's the seventh anniversary of the worst day of veterinarian Alex Robertson's life. An early morning callout to a dog that has been crushed under a tractor brings back shocking memories of that fateful day. Today was always going to be a hard day. Each previous anniversary had been hellish. He expected this one to be no different. Time has not diminished the pain and anguish which have tortured him each and every day for seven long years. Alex's work life is intense. He runs a thriving, state of the art, mixed veterinary practice in Wyagong, country New South Wales, Australia. His days are filled with cattle work, equine stud work, and small animal medicine and surgery. Most of his staff are wonderful. Some are absolutely poisonous. Alex's home life is intense also. His wife, Linda, conspires to make his life hell at every opportunity. She believes that Alex is totally to blame for that hellish day seven years ago... and she will never let him forget... certainly not on it's anniversary. The day has started absurdly. The injured dog did not have to happen on this very day. It's injuries uncannily reflect the injuries of another broken body seven years earlier. The God's are messing with Alex's head. It's been a ridiculous start to the day. He can feel the storm clouds brewing. No doubt Linda will make it a day to remember...
