A Fine Retribution

In the 23rd thrilling installment of the Alan Lewrie series, our hero faces new challenges and foes that threaten to end his illustrious naval career.

Captain Alan Lewrie and his small squadron triumph against four French frigates off the coast of northern Spain, garnering honor and glory. Yet despite this resounding victory, Lewrie finds himself suddenly without a ship or commission. Rumors abound that jealous adversaries with influential connections aim to sabotage his career.

Months ashore in London leave Lewrie restless, even as he establishes a household and sits for a portrait painted by his midshipman's talented sister, Jessica Chenery. As their relationship blooms, Lewrie contemplates risking a second marriage. But just as life ashore grows rosiest, the Admiralty calls upon him to lead a daring raid on French-held coasts—not with his own ship and crew, but with an untested battalion of Army troops in a squadron of transports.

Torn between duty and his growing affection for Jessica, Lewrie must navigate not only the perils of war but the machinations of his foes who would see him fail. In A Fine Retribution, the latest masterful tale in Dewey Lambdin's beloved Alan Lewrie naval adventure series, our hero will stop at nothing to prevail and protect his honor, even if it means putting his scruples aside.
