Crime'

A melancholic drumbeat sounded as the train raced down the track, bisecting the hills, deep within the valleys, through the quaint villages, cities, towns, war-zones and into the distance, then the nightmares came but I couldn't get off, what can I do? Yes I know... The girl sitting opposite looks so pretty, hair spreading like the petals of a summer flower, sleeping peacefully, no doubt enjoying pleasant dreams, if only, if only I were part of them, we would have so much fun. I often wondered who was the voyeur, is it me watching her or the shadow inside watching me? I could never be quite sure, but one thing is certain, I must have her. John Amber is a product of his working class environment, shaped by violence, tortured by what he's witnessed as a child, let down by the system that was there to protect us from him. What starts as a routine police interview quickly takes us on an unforgettable journey through the depths of human depravity. Set against the backdrop of Glasgow City, DI Adair Ram and new recruit Pc McClarey embark on a game of 'cat and mouse' to catch a killer, to catch a sociopath... Written in the style of Booker prize winner James Kelman and Alan Sillitoe, 'Crime' The Black Book is like no other. For mature readers only.
