Green Fire

In the hallowed, humming chambers of a private New York laboratory, renowned physicist James Ferguson collapses under the assault of a silent, crackling green spark. The eerie discharge, the precise hue of the forbidden nebulium line, leaves him visibly aged and cognitively scrambled. His brilliant daughter Vera, a capable scientist herself, experiences the flash's bizarre, alien intelligence—a feeling of being 'handled' by something arbitrary. With the aid of Alan Cunningham and the fastidious Dr. Brande, they try to dismiss it as nervous exhaustion, but the violent reaction and subsequent mental gaps defy explanation.

As Ferguson's behavior grows increasingly erratic and obsessive, the team suspects this is no simple accident. The green fire seems to have whispered secrets of unimaginable power, perhaps the key to breaking the oppressive energy monopoly that strangles the world. But this knowledge comes at a terrible cost, forcing a frantic race against a growing criminal syndicate and the corrosion of Ferguson's very humanity.
