Mind Changer

A massive hospital space station on the Galactic Rim faces an unsettling change in leadership that could jeopardize its future. Mind Changer takes place at Sector General, a sprawling hospital space station with 384 levels and a multispecies staff of thousands. In the course of practicing deep-space medicine, the staff has encountered challenges ranging from plagues caused by cafeteria food to cafeteria food resembling alien species. But now they face a disquieting development: the terrifying Chief Psychologist, Dr. O'Mara, has been promoted to head of the hospital.

Worse, he's been given the job on a temporary basis, just long enough to train his own replacement before mandatory retirement. The staff at Sector General can't begin to imagine what they'll do without him—assuming they last long enough to find out.

Publishers Weekly praises Mind Changer as "White's finest performance, replete with wit, originality, medical expertise and sheer decency." This science fiction novel combines extraterrestrial races, alien technology, and medical science fiction in a gripping tale set in a unique hospital at the edge of the galaxy. It's a must-read for fans of alien science fiction and the acclaimed Sector General series.
