Papillons

Named for its butterfly-like ears, expressive and erect, the Papillon is renowned for his elegance and superior intelligence, believed by experts to be the brightest of the toy breeds. A miniature Spaniel by heritage, this French lapdog is a friendly and obedient companion, always willing to please his master or mistress, with whom he bonds very closely. The Papillon has gained a devoted following beyond his native France, where he is known as le Épagnuel Nain Continental Papillon, to become a beloved pet in the US and a competitive show and obedience dog. Author F. Michael Truex has written a most informative and entertaining guide, providing all you need to know about the Papillon's history in Europe and the US, the breed's character and standard, as well as puppy selection, feeding, training, preventative health care and behavior. New owners will welcome the author's insight on housebreaking, puppy-proofing and preventing and solving puppy problems. In addition to an authoritative, comprehensive text, this book presents over 135 photographs in full color, which prove to be as informative as they are attractive.
