Fanny and the Servant Problem

When a sweeping, glamorous music-hall star secretly marries a high-society lord, she expects a life of luxury...until she meets the butler.

When Fanny, a popular stage actress, marries into the aristocracy and arrives at her husband’s grand country estate, she is ready to embrace her new role as a lady of leisure, but her world is instantly shattered when she discovers a terrifying secret.

The massive, highly disciplined household staff running the estate is entirely made up of her own eccentric, working-class relatives! Led by her fiercely proper uncle - who happens to be the head butler - the servants are determined to force Fanny to act like a "proper lady," using their knowledge of her humble past to hilariously blackmail her into submission behind closed doors.

Jerome K. Jerome serves up a riotous, sharp-witted "upstairs, downstairs" comedy of manners that brilliantly skewers British class snobbery and social pretension. Packed with rapid-fire dialogue, hilarious class friction, and wonderful theatrical flair, Fanny and the Servant Problem is a theatrical comedy masterpiece.
