Fatal Cure

The task looks simple to Joe Mayfield and his wife, hacker extraordinaire, Weezy Napolitani: find a stolen laboratory notebook. But when professional assassins attack Joe and Weezy and a biotech’s lead scientist is kidnapped, it’s apparent something much larger than a missing notebook is at stake.

It’s a few years in the future. Gene therapy has come of age, bringing with it the hope of curing genetically driven diseases. For Gerard Crecher, genetic alteration is a way of sacrificing a few climate change deniers so he can carry out his plan to save the planet. His partners don’t have such pure motives. Those same alterations can be used with deadly intent, targeting decision makers, politicians, or enemy nations. A poison pill to be sold to the highest bidder. Weezy, Joe, and their hacker friends find themselves in a deadly race to reach into the dark net to dredge up the stinking mess and air it out before gene therapy is turned into a potent bioweapon.
