#1 Parents who aren’t sleeping well are not providing their children with good sleep nutrition. Sleep deprivation takes a toll on each level and layer of a family, including the parents and the child individually.
#2 Chronic sleep deprivation can affect you and your child. It can lead to the following: • You being late for appointments, because you spend twenty minutes searching your house for your keys. • You getting overdue notices in the mail, because you can’t remember the last time you paid your bills. • You finding things in your refrigerator that should be classified as science experiments, every week.
#3 When your child isn’t sleeping well, you and your spouse, exhausted as well, are likely to feel frustrated, anxious, and irritable with each other. This affects your family system and can affect the way you and your child interact over time.
#4 Parents must take care of their own needs individually so that they can then care for their marriage and their children in that order. If you are constantly putting yourself last on your list of priorities, you will eventually run out of energy as a parent.
