EP71: Skate or Die

For nearly a full year between June 2015 and June 2016, the neonatal unit at Countess of Chester Hospital in England was plagued by a series of heart-wrenching and inexplicable infant deaths at a rate that was not just alarming, but also statistically unusual and significant. Tragically, newborn baby fatalities and/or near-death collapses were occuring abruptly and often, and crucially, under the care and supervision of one young nurse named Lucy Letby. As the expression goes: once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three times is a pattern. Seventeen times (at least) is the work of the most prolific child serial killer in modern UK history.

EP73: Exorcised to Death

On an otherwise tranquil morning in May of 2012, Canada was rocked by an unthinkable crime committed by a depraved, cannibalistic, necrophiliac, 29-year-old porn star named Luka Magnotta. Luka ruthlessly murdered an innocent man, named Jun Lin, before dismembering his body and mailing his remains to various elementary schools and a political center in Canada. Armed with an ice-pick, Luka committed this heinous act as the coup de grâce to a series of violent acts committed online, in which he had the sickening audacity to harm innocent animals. This is the case of the man at the center of the Netflix documentary “Don’t F*ck With Cats,” a man who was at the center of an international manhunt after he made the callous choice to kill for clicks. In October 2019, Wade Wilson, who shares a name with the alter ego of the Marvel character “Deadpool,” ruthlessly murdered two innocent women in Cape Coral, Florida with his brutal bare hands. With his face covered in menacing neo-Nazi tattoos, including a stitched smile across his mouth, Wade Wilson’s sinister appearance is matched only by his depraved nature. When asked during police interrogation why he committed such heinous acts of violence, Wade chillingly replied, “I just wanted to do it.” This individual is truly one of the coldest psychopaths to emerge, whose utter lack of remorse and cruel indifference to human life has left a community shattered and the entire nation reeling.

Part 1 of the case of the Snowtown Murders, also known as the Bodies in Barrels Murders, delves into some of the darkest corners of the human psyche, where the lines between victim and perpetrator become terrifyingly blurred. John Bunting coerced vulnerable individuals to serve as accomplices in some of the most heinous crimes imaginable. He was a homophobic, Nazi-loving, blood-thirsty disaster of a human being, presenting one of the most shocking examples of stone-cold psychopathy you will ever hear about. Eleven victims lost their lives to his brutality and spent years decomposing in hidden barrels before his reign of terror ended in what is regarded as the worst serial killer case in Australian history.
