When PI is hired to help punch up his plotting, she uncovers a real-world conspiracy buried beneath his fictional pages, one involving powerful publishers, forged pasts, and a string of murders no one wants to connect. As his characters start to look suspiciously like people they know (some of whom are now dead), the line between storytelling and surviving gets harder to draw.
