Introducing Scenes from the Coffee Break Café

Join Mark and Pablo at the start of an engaging new story! In Chapter 1 of Scenes, our latest course for intermediate learners, we’re introduced to Isabel, her café, and its colourful array of customers. Each chapter unveils a scene from this charming café, giving us the chance to learn more about the people who walk through its doors.

In this first chapter, we meet three nurses - Carmen, Míriam, and Pilar - who are unwinding at the café after their night shift at a nearby hospital. Míriam seems troubled by something, but Isabel steps in to help her feel better.

Alongside the story, you’ll discover useful grammar and vocabulary, including phrases like un mal trago, echar una buena bronca, and quitar un disgusto.

CBS Scenes 1.09 | Una visita de recuerdos

In this week's episode of the Coffee Break Spanish Travel Diaries, Victoria and Able leave the village of Lastres as they head to the Asturian cities of Gijón and Áviles where they visit the football stadium. As they explore their new surroundings, Mark and Anabel discuss many different aspects of the language used in Victoria's latest diary entry, including the a por grammatical structure used in Spain. We also hear an explanation of some useful vocabulary including the words gustar and ser de.

Travel Diaries will be published in one season of ten episodes weekly from 27th August. If you’d like to access lesson notes and a video version which features pauses after each sentence to allow you to practise your pronunciation, check out the full course on the Coffee Break Academy.
