Steve and Kirsten Beckwith shared 26 years together. First there was the bliss of courtship, the contentment of marriage, and the love of parenthood—then anger, spite, unforgivable damage. When Steve dies suddenly of colon cancer, he leaves Kirsten saddled with his debts of $1.5 million. As she fights toward recovery, she begins to receive communications from Steve in the afterlife that lead her on an unexpected path to forgiveness. The Ghost Marriage is her story of discovery—that life isn’t limited to the tangible reality we experience on this earth, and that our worst adversaries can become our greatest teachers.

I was intrigued by the book cover and immediately I thought of Chinese ghost marriages. But this book is written by an American, and what is this all about? It is a memoir of a woman whose life started and ended with a narcissistic husband, and the adversity she went through when she incurred debts that her late ex husband incurred, and at the same time taking care of her two children. However, the author seemed unable to leave her bad past behind. The negativity in her is evident in this book. I wished she described more of her encounter with her late husband after he has passed. More about forgiveness which isn't easy to pen it.It is an insightful memoir for me. I am particularly interested in the afterlife in which many think it is just naysayers.
