ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK
Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel tells the story of Tita De la Garza, the youngest daughter in her family, who is bound by tradition to remain unmarried and care for her mother until death. This decree prevents her from marrying Pedro Muzquiz, the man she loves. In a desperate attempt to stay close to Tita, Pedro agrees to marry her sister, Rosaura. The novel intricately weaves family life and traditions with the passionate and often heartbreaking love between Tita and Pedro. Each chapter begins with a recipe, and food and the act of cooking are depicted as deeply connected to emotions and significant events in Tita's life. The narrative explores themes of love, longing, duty, and the constraints of societal and familial expectations.
