One day, he visited the region of ‘Tiruvallikeni’ and while walking along the road, saw an old man digging a hole in the ground, placing the roots of a plant on top, and placing the leaf part in the hole. The yogi asked him, ‘What foolish act are you doing?’ The old man replied, ‘You have attained eight siddhis, yet you seem to be deceiving people with such minor tricks’. Hearing this, the yogi immediately bowed down, held the old man's feet, and requested to be accepted as his disciple. The old man was none other than Peyalwar, and the yogi was none other than Tirumalisa Alwar.
