Fleeing Arizona, gunslinger and cattle rustler Monty Ballou has found his way to just across the border in Utah, at Canyon Walls Ranch. He takes on a new identity, Sam Hill, and becomes the ranch's hired hand, farming and bringing in a rich crop of alfalfa for its widow owner.
