Blood is one of the most vital components of the human body, performing essential functions that sustain life. It serves as the primary transport system, delivering oxygen and nutrients to tissues while removing waste products. Beyond its role in circulation, blood is integral to immunity, clotting, and maintaining homeostasis. One of the most fundamental roles of blood is oxygen transportation. Red blood cells contain hemoglobin, a protein that binds to oxygen in the lungs and carries it to cells throughout the body. Glucose, amino acids, lipids, and vitamins travel through the bloodstream to nourish organs and fuel metabolic processes.
