A killer linked to a long-resolved murder case stalks a community in this suspenseful mystery from a Grand Master Award–winning author. Spending the weekend at her judge appointed uncle's upstate New York condo in Alpine Village, TV news researcher Emmy Brace discovers he has an ulterior purpose for her visit. Judge Harry Doane disapproves of her career choice and current assignment, digging into closed murder cases for a sensationalist story. Believing Emmy is in danger, the Judge demands she quit her job. Feeling ambushed, Emmy is rescued by her ex-boyfriend Bar Slocumb, who insists she stay with him at his Alpine home. Their sudden reunion is interrupted with the rising tensions between Alpine's residents, and the presence of a mysterious guest staying with the Judge. Then two people are murdered, a senseless crime the police struggle to investigate. There's no connection between the victims and no motive to be found. As a blizzard descends on Alpine Village, Emmy and Bar uncover long buried secrets hidden by friends, family, neighbors, and a killer's true agenda . . . "Mignon Eberhart proves once again why she is a Grand Master of mystery and suspense . . . in one of her best tales of love, intrigue, and death among the upper classes." —Mystery News
