Dreams and Devastation

Her lips curved into a small smile. It was brief—tender and bittersweet and barely there. The kind of smile that held entire stories within its shape, histories and memories and things that words could never quite reach.

And then a single tear escaped.

It traced a slow path down her cheek, catching the winter light. She didn't move to wipe it away. The smile remained, soft and sad and somehow both at once.

Behind her, the drawing showed two figures caught in a moment of passion. A kiss that seemed to contain an entire world within it.

Whatever story had brought her to this moment, whatever joy or sorrow or desperate need had driven her to capture this particular scene with such fierce precision—it lived in that drawing now. Preserved. Permanent.

But the story itself remained untold.

Who was she? Who was the man in the painting? And what had happened to turn passion into tears?
