Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1915, Sinatra rose to fame during the big band era before establishing himself as a solo artist of remarkable longevity. His recordings of classics such as My Way, Fly Me to the Moon, New York, New York, and I've Got You Under My Skin became standards of the American songbook and earned him a worldwide audience. Beyond music, Sinatra enjoyed a successful film career, winning an Academy Award for his performance in From Here to Eternity and starring in numerous acclaimed motion pictures.
