JIMMIE

Jimmie, a deeply moving novel by Jim Valentine, begins as a slow-burn college romance story, following Jim and Judy Valentine, two sensible, quietly mismatched students at Knox College, whose unexpected connection grows into a lifelong bond. What starts as an indifferent courtship and a whimsical mock wedding soon becomes a nostalgic American love story filled with practicality, sharp wit, and an affection that deepens long after their marriage.

But the heart of this heartfelt family fiction is their son, Jimmie, whose life transforms the family in extraordinary ways. After being diagnosed with a rare brain tumor, Jimmie survives life-saving surgery that leaves him blind. His blindness and independence journey shape the novel’s emotional core, making it an unforgettable emotional family story. Jimmie learns Braille and mobility skills, exceeding everyone’s expectations by pursuing independence with unwavering determination.

As Jim and Judy navigate parenthood, sacrifice, and the weight of uncertainty, their journey becomes a powerfulhusband-wife story, revealing how love can survive through anything.

From the first chapter, this blind hero’s emotional growth draws the reader in and keeps them hooked until the last page. Blending sincerity with gentle humor, Jimmie ultimately stands as a character-driven witty relationship story about extraordinary strength, love, and the quiet triumphs that define a life.
