The Self And Its Sheaths is a book written by Annie Wood Besant in 1895. It is a collection of four lectures that explore the concept of the self and its different layers or sheaths. Besant delves into the idea that the self is not just a physical body, but also consists of various other components such as the mind, emotions, and spiritual essence. Throughout the book, Besant draws upon Eastern philosophy and teachings to explain the different sheaths of the self and how they interact with each other. She also discusses the importance of understanding these different layers in order to achieve spiritual growth and enlightenment. The first lecture focuses on the physical body and its connection to the self, while the second lecture explores the emotional and mental sheaths. The third lecture delves into the spiritual essence of the self, and the final lecture discusses the process of transcending these sheaths to reach a higher state of consciousness. Overall, The Self And Its Sheaths is a thoughtprovoking book that offers a unique perspective on the nature of the self and its various components. It is a valuable resource for anyone interested in spirituality, philosophy, or personal growth.
