Adam contrasts that world with how poor families think about work, explaining that when you’re scrambling to pay bills, you don’t fantasize about becoming a doctor or lawyer—you grab whatever job is available. He also reflects on his own unremarkable family lineage and why he’s never had much to brag about there.
