Religión y espiritualidad

A Walk Through the Old and New Testaments is devotional at its core, far from any theological treatise. It provides insight into one’s faith travels in the hope it will serve another. It has been nurtured by our teachers such as Nahum Sarna, Abraham Joshua Heschel, Richard Foster, and others. It is peppered with salient passages from the great hymns of the church. This book cannot avoid references to the many witnesses before us in our families who have stretched over the globe to reach others in Christ’s name. It can start your day, serve as evening vespers, or be within your reach at any point.

The word of God ties together. As we read the streams of water that brings life in Psalm 2, we find the river of life in Revelation 22. The word of God is honest. In Matthew’s genealogy it states that Solomon’s mother was Uriah’s wife. It does not avoid David’s sin. It lists Rahab in the line, a prostitute. In the story of Jesus’ birth, it allows you to see the embarrassment it caused to Joseph who wanted to divorce her. Herod sent the Magi to search out the baby Jesus. When they reached him, they fell and worshiped him. But they never returned to Herod with their report. They went back to their own country another way. When you meet Jesus, you never want to go back to Herod.

About the Author

Norman Voisey completed forty years of service in the Salvation Army. He was a trustee and also served in that capacity for three of their hospitals. His application to reserve Section 8 funding for senior housing in Cincinnati was secured for their Booth Residence. Voisey was educated in Canada but also in the United States at Pace University and Case Western Reserve University.

Voisey is an avid reader of Judaic thought and a student of spiritual and literary greats Cynthia Ozick and Elie Wiesel. He leans heavily toward nonfiction, but classic novels continue to be part of his agenda. His other interests are genealogy, music, and the arts. Voisey is close to confirming his Huguenot background; they were driven from France to John Calvin’s Geneva and on from there.
