#1 The brain likes the status quo, and it will do everything in its power to keep you there. You can change your brain by changing your mind. It’s mind over matter.

#2 The brain’s default setting is to keep the body centered around an ideal state, which is outdated. It wants you to stay the same so it can remain comfortable. To change, you must convince your brain that you need to change.

#3 The brain is lazy, and it views all voluntary exercise as an extravagant expense. It only wants you to move if your life depends on it, but in today’s world, you rarely need to move to survive.

#4 The most frustrating part about overcoming laziness is that our brain’s lazy appeals endure even when we want to exercise. It can be difficult to overcome this resistance, especially when we are stressed or mentally exhausted.
