Within this novel, Sensei Garan Dachau and Miss Morae Brody take the limelight. They're running against time to locate a safe haven that matches what Kiernan and his crew need to rest, recuperate, and ultimately learn to live with the shocking discoveries of their life. Meanwhile, Garan Dachau acknowledges the mistakes made in previous life choices. Miss Morae also has learned painful lessons as well. Sometimes the most trustworthy employees can't be trusted and might kill ya instead.

As a result, these two individuals are gaining new appreciation for ancient allies stepping forward in the time of necessity to battle ancient escaped foes that really didn't want to fight in the end.
