I was thrilled when I found Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women, with the March sisters and their mother, Marmee, and I couldn’t help but identify with the tension between a fierce love and loyalty for your family and an equally fierce desire to throw yourself into the world.

#4 I was always fascinated by Ancient Egypt, and in fourth grade, I wrote my longest report ever on Hatshepsut, one of the first female pharaohs. I admired the strong, brave, and fearless women leaders in the Greek and Egyptian myths.
