Pilates is a form of exercise and body conditioning developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th Century.

Mostly as a method of injury recovery for dancers.

Some of the principles that guide the Pilates method include concentration on each movement,use of the abdomen and lower back muscles, flowing movement patterns, and steady and controlled breathing.

In contrast to other fitness method, pilates doesn't require mountains of special equipment. A simple mat, while not mandatory, is the sole piece of equipment needed.
