Nightmare Abbey

"Nightmare Abbey" is a satirical novel by Thomas Love Peacock that delves into the eccentricities of the Romantic era and provides a witty critique of the intellectual and cultural movements of the time. Set in the gloomy and decaying Nightmare Abbey, the story follows the protagonist, Christopher Glowry, and his interactions with a cast of idiosyncratic characters. Christopher's gloomy existence is interrupted by the arrival of his lively and eccentric son, Scythrop, who brings a fresh burst of energy to the desolate abbey.
