"Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday morning commissioned the first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant in a ceremony at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi. Apart from that, a new flag known as Ensign or Nishaan was unveiled today. The new flag bears Indian tricolour, however it replaces the St George’s cross. Instead it bears Indian Navy crest on a navy blue background enclosed in a octagon representing the royal seal of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Shivaji Maharaj is also called the father of the Indian Navy. However, for INS Vikrant it is a rebirth after 25 years.
