Before hobbits and rings, there was a little dog named Rover—turned into a toy by a grumpy wizard and swept into an unforgettable adventure across land, sea, and even the moon. In Roverandom, J.R.R. Tolkien crafts a whimsical, magical tale written originally to comfort his young son after losing a beloved toy dog. What begins as a simple misfortune blossoms into a journey through enchanted islands, undersea kingdoms, and the mysterious Moon, where Rover must outwit dragons, meet moon-dogs, and find his way home. Bursting with charm, imagination, and gentle humor, Roverandom reveals the playful heart of Tolkien's genius, delighting both children and adults with its lyrical storytelling and fantastical scope. A hidden gem that proves Tolkien's mastery beyond Middle-earth.
