In upstate New York, in the woods around Woodstock, Dutchman's Creek flows out of the Ashokan Reservoir. Steep-banked, fast-moving, it offers the promise of fine fishing, and of something more, a possibility too fantastic to be true. When Abe and Dan, two widowers who have found solace in each other's company and a shared passion for fishing, hear rumors of the Creek, and what might be found there, the remedy to both their losses, they dismiss it as just another fish story. Soon, though, the men find themselves drawn into a tale as deep and old as the Reservoir. It's a tale of dark pacts, of long-buried secrets, and of a mysterious figure known as Der Fisher: the Fisherman. It will bring Abe and Dan face to face with all that they have lost, and with the price they must pay to regain it.

Audiobook version. Heard so so much praise about this that I just had to read it. I was so nervous to read it, that it felt like butterflies in the stomach when i finally started it. I was afraid that i have been recommended this from left and right what if i dont like it? And I have got A LOT to say about this book. Right from the first chapter, i knew this was going to be a master piece. Theres something about the way the author as well as the narrator tells the story. It winds you in and its like an actual person is sitting across from you and reciting horrors that they went through. Not 1 word felt boring or dragged out. This is the kind of horror book that i see myself reading and re-reading over and over again and never getting tired of it. Such a refreshing experience it was. The story had so many layers and characters. Theres the story of the old priest and the diner owner Herman, Beatrice and Cornelius Dort, The Guest, of Helen and George, of Rainer and Clara and Lotti
