“Sold” by Patricia McCormick tells the story of Lakshmi, a 13-year-old girl from a small village in Nepal, who is sold into the sex trade in India under false promises of work. As she arrives at a brothel in Calcutta, Lakshmi faces the brutal realities of exploitation, abuse, and the harsh conditions that trap her.
