ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK

“The Sympathizer” by Viet Thanh Nguyen follows a communist double agent who witnesses the fall of Saigon and escapes to the United States. As he navigates life in exile, he is torn between his loyalty to his comrades and the realities of his life in America. The novel explores themes of identity, loyalty, betrayal, and the complexities of the immigrant experience.
