Her solo career, highlighted by the critically acclaimed album Pearl, cemented her status as a rock icon. Despite her success, Joplin battled addiction and died of a heroin overdose on October 4, 1970, at the age of 27. Her passionate performances and distinctive voice continue to inspire generations.
