#1 I loved to run as a child, and I was always trying to outrun everyone. I was also born in 1958, which meant I grew up in a family defined by music. My parents launched their own small business directly tied to their passion for music.

#2 My parents began buying old pianos and restoring them, then reselling them. Their business grew rapidly as satisfied customers spread the word. I enjoyed being on my own, but I still had expectations placed on me because of my family’s musical talent.

#3 I was ten years old and determined to make my piano lessons with Mrs. Feldmann as miserable as possible. I vowed to wear down my teacher and my parents until they gave in and gave up on me.

#4 I was extremely gifted in sports, and I enjoyed showing off my abilities. I was different from my family, but still the best at what I did.
