The origins of the Mongols trace back to the vast, windswept steppes of Central Asia, a region defined by its harsh climate, open plains, and nomadic peoples. External threats and invasions, including incursions by the powerful Jin and Western Xia dynasties of China, exposed the Mongol tribes to more advanced warfare and political systems, which they would later adapt and use to their advantage.
