Behind the Scenes and Season Highlights (End of Season 6 Q&A)

In this episode, Hannah is joined by Chantel Houston, who is a director, producer, and editor, and cohost of the Money Honeys Podcast. Chantel discusses how being demisexual has made her romantic choices more deliberate and gives advice for people exploring their own sexuality. She and Hannah talk about how money impacts romantic relationships, discussing finances with your partner, and the risk of resentment building in relationships due to money issues. Chantel also talks about how people can have such different relationships to money, how fear and stress around money can be especially complex when it comes to spending money in relationships, and bridging the gap around talking about money with your partner if you come from two different financial backgrounds. Finally, Hannah and Chantel discuss Chantel and her spouse’s decision to have a couple’s therapist, and why Chantel recommends couples therapy for anyone who can afford it.

Combating Kink Shame, De-Gendering BDSM & Jewish Sexual Values with Emerson Karsh

In this episode, Hannah is joined by Cody Daigle-Orians, an asexuality educator, writer, and creator of Ace Dad Advice. Cody talks about how to know if you’re asexual, the different identities under the asexual umbrella, and the difference between sexual attraction, romantic attraction, and lots of other kinds of attraction too. He and Hannah talk about Cody understanding he was asexual later in life at 42, how the language of asexuality helped him understand that he wasn’t broken, and how he felt like a bad gay person for not being connected to sex in the same way as other gay people around him when he was growing up. Finally Cody talks about his new book, I Am Ace, how ace and allosexual people can be in a relationship, and how understanding your sexuality is a journey so you should give yourself permission to ask a lot of questions and live your best life.

They share their thoughts on the book Jack of Hearts (& Other Parts), which Calum read for Penguin’s LGBT+ book club. Exploring sex education and how sex is represented in YA, they ask: “Where else do young people get depictions of sex?” They also look at a nuanced vision of homophobia, talking about prejudice within the LGBT+ community itself. Finally, they discuss their uncomfortable reading about Jack’s first time having anal sex – was this as consensual as Jack seems to say it is?
