a peek behind the scenes as Red Eye Radio makes a few changes. Starting this month Gary and Eric cuts back to three hours per night for the show and the podcast will reflect those changes as well. From all of us here at the show, thanks for listening! * OK..in the news "The View" co-host Whoopi Goldberg suggested that Americans darken their skin and adopt Latin American accents to test whether they would be racially profiled by ICE agents as undocumented immigrants. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem vowed that ICE agents "will be all over" the upcoming Super Bowl. This year’s event will feature Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican reggaeton artist and U.S. citizen who has been outspoken in his criticism of the agency. Last month, he said he would not perform in the U.S. on his upcoming tour because of concerns about possible ICE raids at his concerts. Also Jonathan Turley on the President's right to employ any division of the US military to enforce the law in any state without obstruction from any district or federal judge, all sitting Presidents throughout the centuries have never experienced the push-back like Donald Trump and activist judges defying the constitution and the assault on ICE agents in Chicago as a protester and her accomplice armed with a gun, ram into agents as anti-ICE violence intensifies.

In part one of Red Eye Radio with Gary McNamara and Eric Harley, a federal judge has again blocked President Trump’s efforts to deploy National Guard troops into Portland in a late-night decision on Sunday. District Judge Karin Immergut ruled the action was unlawful and unconstitutional, issuing an emergency temporary restraining order to halt the deployment of California’s National Guard. The order also bars the use of troops from any other state or Washington, D.C. in Oregon. Now the President may turn to Texas Governor Greg Abbott who would rule much differently. Also the nation’s largest police union condemned reports that Chicago officers were told not to help ICE agents surrounded by protesters, calling it "shocking" and a violation of law enforcement’s duty to protect fellow officers in danger, Hakeem Jeffries exploiting a tax abatement on his million dollar NYC apartment, controversial psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson spent nearly a month in intensive care and was “near death” while battling pneumonia and sepsis this summer, his daughter revealed in an emotional video update and Virginia's Democratic candidate for Attorney General, Jay Jones, is facing bipartisan backlash after text messages from 2022 surfaced showing him fantasizing about shooting then-House Speaker Todd Gilbert.

Also day one of the Government shutdown produced a myriad of partisan opinions across every media outlet with health care for illegals being the hot topic, audio from Joy Reid on being a "victim" since her parents lived in poverty yet her annual salary was 3 million dollars, audio from Speaker Johnson explaining how health care subsidies won't expire before providers establish new policies, audio from Nancy Pelosi assuring AOC is not directing the shut down and a quick "view" at The View.

10-02-25 Part Two - Emotional Support Weed

In part one of Red Eye Radio with Gary McNamara and Eric Harley, "Sorry folks..the park's closed..the moose out front shoulda told ya" .. Vacation. 

Feels kinda weird but yeah..for the first time in five years, the Government is officially closed for at least two weeks as of midnight this morning. The big question on everyone's mind is "will this affect my social security and healthcare?" The short answer is .. no. Roughly 30% of federal employees are on furlough and some may not be returning to work when the Government opens. Basically a government shutdown happens when Congress can neither pass all 12 appropriations bills needed to fund the government, nor pass a continuing resolution which typically keeps funding levels static while lawmakers hustle to finish their work on spending bills. Programs like Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid will continue, along with the Postal Service, Veterans' Affairs hospitals and clinics, and Immigration and Border Patrol security activities, among others. Federal employees will likely go without pay, however, and a string of agencies will see their services hampered by furloughs, like the IRS and Small Business Administration. Housing programs may also see a delay in rental assistance and loans. 

Also on today's show, a yelling match between Sen. Josh Hawley and a former Biden administration official broke out in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing over the need for "two spirit" safe spaces to combat gun violence and Pete Hegseth's ambitious 10-point plan to transform the military.
