The Presidents and the Bible, with Carl J. Richard

Herbert Hoover was a revolutionary figure in American politics -- for many, he represented a new era, in which experts and engineers would dominate the highest levels of government. Upon Hoover's election to the presidency in 1928, millions of Americans were thrilled at the prospect of the "Great Engineer" engineering solutions to the nation's problems. Those hopes, however, would be dashed by the Great Depression. In this episode, we cover how Hoover sought to rescue his country from the worst economic crisis in modern history.

America's Fallen Savior Part 1 | The Rise of Herbert Hoover

On November 3, 1969, Richard Nixon delivered this address to the nation on the war in Vietnam. In this speech he assures the American people that he is taking all necessary measures to push towards peace and end the Vietnam War. He does not advocate withdrawing troops, but instead negotiating peace. President Nixon remains sympathetic to the American call for peace but pushes forward with steadfast intention to end the war and ensure stability in South Vietnam, seeking the support of the great silent majority. This is a part of a series of bonus episodes featuring full length presidential speeches.
