New York architect Ignacio Thomas was enthralled by Barcelona, the city of the Modernistas. The opportunity to renovate one of the stellar attractions of the city gripped his creativity to the core. His introduction to the Palau de la Musica Catalana, the jewel of Barcelona, was by a sparrow-like old woman whose hooded eyes peered up at him and shared the glory of the building.
